Taita shops

Taita shops are found in the countryside. They sell clothes, tools, furniture, toys, school supplies, soap, toothpaste and much more, all at very cheap prices. In these shops poor people can buy the products they need at a good price, near their houses. Therefore they don't have to pay for transport from the countryside to the city, an expense that many families can't afford.

If you are travelling to Ecuador you can donate unwanted clothes and school supplies such as pencils, notebooks, etc to Taita shops - just let us know, and we will give you instructions. In exchange you will receive a Taitakuna souvenir.

We have drop-off points in Quito and Ambato. Unfortunately, because of corruption sending items by mail is not practical, as we have to pay extortionate taxes to retrieve them. We ask please that the items are clean and in good working condition.

Our philosophy is: if you give presents, you create beggars, but by selling products at very low prices you protect people´s dignity and pride.

It is said that in Taita shops you can find everything from a pin to a computer. The products we sell are 90% second hand, and they are in good, working condition.
